Herbal Wellness Consultations
Hi, I’m Charley and I’m here to help you feel better. If you’re feeling out of balance, have chronic health conditions, or just a general sense of dis-ease, herbal remedies can provide the spark needed to turn on your body’s ability to heal. I am honored to help you along your healing journey.
My own healing journey began when I attended school for massage therapy in 2010. This really opened up my mind to the possibilities of extraordinary transformation capable when combining healing touch with empathetic presence. After learning prenatal massage, a light switched on in my heart and I found that my life purpose is to help women stand strong in their own power by taking their health into their own hands. That same year, I furthered my education with toLabor and became a birth doula.
I am an herbalist, trained in Southern Folk Medicine and Western Herbalism, having studied with Phyllis Light at the Appalachian Center for Natural Health in Alabama. I have also studied with Sajah Popham of Evolutionary Herbalism. My studies in herbalism will be a life-long adventure. I am dedicated to keeping the fire of my curiosity burning by continuously learning all I can about plant medicine and other methods of healing.

What is Southern Folk Medicine?
Southern Folk Medicine is the medicine of the people. It was formed in the Southern United States as Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans combined their knowledge of plant medicines. This practice looks at every person as the unique individual they are. Herbal remedies and nutrition are tailored to a person’s body constitution and temperament.
The really magical thing about folk medicine is that we can use the plants that grow all over Kentucky as a catalyst for healing. Unlike pharmaceuticals, which are aimed at forcing a change in the symptoms of disease, herbal remedies work to turn on your body’s ability to correct imbalance in the tissues and come back to harmony. While this idea of balancing body constitutions is somewhat similar to Chinese Medicine or Ayurvedic Medicine, the main difference is that we use herbs native to the US, rather than shipping them from overseas. This means that your plant allies could be growing in your own backyard!
What does the herbal consultation look like?
During our initial consultation, we will discuss your health history. We’ll talk for about an hour. You’ll leave with some recommendations to get you feeling better right away. Over the next couple of days, I will customize a wellness plan for you. This may include herbal remedies, dietary recommendations, and lifestyle changes. We’ll meet again for about 30 minutes to discuss your wellness plan. Your follow-up appointment will be scheduled for 2-3 weeks after your initial consultation. This will give you time to incorporate your wellness plan and discover what’s working and what needs adjustment.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I can be reached by email at email@example.com
I look forward to working with you!
:: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ::
What is an herbal remedy? How do I take it?
Remedies come in different forms. Herbal tinctures are herbs extracted in alcohol. These are taken in a bit of water. There are also herbal teas and capsules. Salves are used topically. Cost of herbs is additional to the cost of your consultation. I may have the recommended herbs available at White Willow, or I may recommend you purchase them elsewhere.
What is the cost?
The initial consultation, including one hour appointment, one 30 minute appointment, and your wellness plan, costs $155. The fee for follow-up consultations is $85.
What conditions can be treated?
When working with plant medicine, we don’t talk in terms of curing illness. Instead, we are addressing imbalances in the tissues and providing the body with what it needs to heal. Any condition can be aided with herbs. I most enjoy working with hormonal imbalance, fertility, and chronic ailments.
I do not offer consultations for emergency situations or acute conditions. If I feel you would be better served by another practitioner, I will help you find one.
What if I’m already taking pharmaceutical medications?
The herbalism I practice is integrative. There is certainly a time and place for modern medicine, and I’m so thankful for it. I will never recommend that you stop taking any medication. If you are working with your health practitioner to ween off of a medication, I can help with that. Some herbs cannot be combined with pharmaceuticals, but many more herbs can be used in conjunction with medications.
What if I’m not sick but want to increase longevity?
I am here for that! My hope is that all my clients will reach a point where symptoms are kept at bay and they can focus on living longer, healthier lives. We can talk about supplements and nutrition for health maintenance.
